Sewing Project #3

I have just finished working on my very first doll. Yay!! I was picking between a monkey and a panda, but I finally decided on the panda because my husband's nickname is Fighting Panda. It would be suiting if I made a little panda for Ali to remind her of her dada when he is at work. Originally, I wanted to make this for my friend's daughters whom I visited a few days ago. But while I was sewing, I broke a part of the sewing machine (thank goodness, it was an easy fix and it didn't cost that much) and I couldn't finish it in time. I don't know why I always seem to break the machine, one way or the other, or some other problem would come up (remember, I ruined the iron before?). Actually now I think of it, problems do pop up every single time I sew. Maybe it is God's way of telling me that I am not meant to sew. I am just hopeless. Maybe I should just stick to card making. =(

The Panda turned out okay (good from far, but far from good) if you don't look at all the seams closely. I should have stuffed the doll a little more too, it looks a little flat. The only thing that I don't like is the white part gets "dirty" quite easily (the lint rubbed off from the black felt). That's all the sewing I have done so far. A little sad? I think so!

  1. Cool! Now you are ready to make the monkey. I don't think the money will get as "dirty" as the panda. Keep sewing and keep breaking that machine - it's a clear sign of progress.

  3. OMG I made the exact same panda doll for Trevor while I was pregnant (see my blog: http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/moma-bellytalk/article?mid=358) or search for the word "bungo" after you logged on if the link doesn't work)! My husband actually critized me of sewing a 'scary-looking' doll for our baby (blah!).

  4. Hahhaha...HILARIOUS! You know what we should do next time? We should have both Trevor and Ali wear the same Japanese outfits and make them hold their own panda doll! That would be so CUTE! Did you make any other dolls from that book?
